Outdoor Recreation programs provide opportunities to participate in, and enjoy, the great outdoors by offering outdoor activities and adventure!!
The emphasis in Outdoor Recreation is on skill development and opportunities to acquire lifetime leisure skills. Outdoor Recreation specialists are available to assist customers with various activities such as camping, canoeing, boating, fishing, hunting and so much more!!
We offer fishing, hunting with our fishing lakes, hunting areas, skeet and trap shooting.

Open to retired civilians and reservists (large game only).Active duty for Redstone have priority on weekends. Active Duty Military must have a current Alabama driver's license or a copy of PCS orders assigning them to Alabama in order to purchase a resident Alabama Hunting/Fishing License. ALL HUNTERS must show proof of completion of a State certified hunter education course prior to purchasing their Arsenal Hunting Permit.
HUNTING
Hunter Orientation Classes are scheduled each year during the months of September through November, immediately preceding the upcoming hunting season. Please call Outdoor Recreation at 876-4868 for current class times and locations.
Items required to hunt on Redstone Arsenal (Hunters Must Have Items 1-3 before they can purchase Redstone Permit)
- Alabama State Hunting License
- Any States Hunter Education Certificate (more information can be found regarding local classes at www.outdoorAlabama.com
- Redstone Arsenal Hunting Orientation
- Redstone Arsenal Hunting Permit
All persons hunting on Redstone Arsenal must have completed a state approved hunter education course. For information on courses offered in this area you may look it up on the web - Click here or by call 1-800-245-2740 (Education Co-ordinator).

Redstone Hunting Permit - $50.00
FISHING
To fish on Redstone you must have
the following:
STATE Fishing permit needed
Weekdays are Thiokol,
Area 48 and Area 19.
Weekends are Bradford
Sinks and Finance pond when they are opened by Range control. Call Outdoor
Recreation at 876-4868 on Fridays to find out if they will be open that
weekend.
For fishing in the Tennessee River, a State license is all that is required.
