Links at Redstone Golf Course

As I take a look at the year as we wind down, I am pleased with our progress and look forward to the New Year with all that it has to offer. In the late spring or early summer we will have the New 9-holes opening. As this happens we will close what was Meadowview and redo the greens, a few bunkers and a few tee boxes tee boxes. Hopefully, about 10-12 weeks after that we will finally be a facility with two 18 hole courses to play. If you were at the Name the 18's announcement on Dec 6th you know the new course names. For those that weren't there, the Course on the south side of Goss Road will be called the Warrior Course and the one on the North side course will be called the Patriot Course. We came to these names as we felt that no matter what happens in the future, here at Redstone one thing we can be sure of is that the players on our courses will be both Patriots and Warriors.

As for our new names, we had 180 entries into the contest. There were many great ideas, a few we just won't talk about and several that were very humorous. Major General Myles and Col. Pastorelli were both at the party to award the one year annual pass prize to the winner. Ms. Carol Darden and Mr. Jeff Wishik both chose the same names but Mr. Wishik lost to Carol in a playoff so to speak. He stated the important thing was the courses got great names.

With the year closing I think everyone realizes with BRAC on the way the timing of our new nine could not be better. With more and more golfers coming it should relieve our congestion a bit, allow a smoother operation during peak play and significantly boost the number of leagues and events we can handle without disrupting our regular play. By the end of 2010 we should have one of the finest golf facilities in the State of Alabama. I want you to know I am proud to head this activity and myself and my staff look forward to serving you in the coming year.
