CYSS Services recognizes the stress that longer and multiple deployments puts on Army Families and that the support they need includes liaison with schools to ensure positive relationships with the schools attended by Army youth!

Ages 6 - 10 (1st thru 5th grades) years Army School Age Center include before and after school programs, summer care, and camps during school vacations. Through partnerships with groups such as National 4-H, Character Counts and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, installations help children learn to work with their strengths, interests, and each other, to feel good about themselves, and to grow as individuals. Programs are offered in the core areas of leisure, recreation, and the arts; sport and fitness; life skills, citizenship and leadership; and mentoring and support services.

School Age Center (SAC) is accredited by the Council On Accreditation (COA) since December 31, 2010. COA Accreditation symbolizes a commitment to quality school-age care. SAC met or exceeded COA's requirements for accreditation based on 137 Practice Standards (75 Program Standards, 35 Program Administration, and 27 Human Resource). There are also 30 Core Concept Standards (13 PS, 8 HR and 9 AM) to make a total of 167 Standards.

School Age Center has been an active unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs since November, 2001. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America promote positive youth development through the provision of opportunities for young people to develop the skills they will need to become successful and contributing members of our communities. These are offered in programs that fall under the four service areas. The areas are Sports and Fitness/Health, Arts, Leisure & Recreation, Life Skills, Citizenship & Leadership, and Academic Support, Mentoring and Intervention.

As a 4-H Club, School Age Center provides organized, structured, and directed learning opportunities. With research-based, informal, hands-on educational experiences, 4-H helps children and young people become responsible and productive citizens in their communities. SAS offers opportunities for Citizenship, photography, and fine arts.

The School Age Program serves a variety of needs:

  • Computer Lab There are 15 computer stations available for children to develop their computer skills and expand their knowledge of math, science, social studies, reading, English, spelling, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Accreditation/Certification

DoD Certification and National Accreditation are required by the Military Child Care Act to attain and ensure SAC program quality.

Accreditation: Army School-Age Programs are eligible for National Accreditation through an external evaluation (outside "set of eyes") process that surpasses expectations and provides high quality care for children.

Certification: DoD Certification, the equivalent of state licensing, is based on an Army internal evaluation process to ensure Garrison School-Age Programs meet required DoD quality standards.
