The Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program (SEAP) is a need-based education assistance program designed to provide Army spouses, residing with active duty Soldiers in Europe, Korea, Japan and Okinawa Commands only, with financial assistance in pursuing educational goals. The purpose of the program is to assist spouses in gaining the education required to allow them to qualify for increased occupational opportunities.
In 2006 AER implemented the Stateside Spouse Education Assistance program as a secondary AER mission to help Army families with the costs of post secondary undergraduate level education and vocational training to prepare spouses for the job market. Applicants must be: the spouse of an Army Soldier on active duty, or retired, and residing in the United States or a widow(er) of an Army soldier who died while on active duty, and residing in the United States.
