Redstone Arsenal is located in the heart of the Tennessee Valley, in northern Alabama. Huntsville, Alabama, a city of about 180,105 residents, borders Redstone Arsenal to the East and North, is a premier location for both business and quality of life. Huntsville, Alabama offers a wide variety of cultural activities, recreational opportunities, fine shopping, schools and professional facilities. The Tennessee River, which borders Redstone Arsenal on the south, is a prime location for those who enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, picnicking, hiking, biking, or enjoying the scenery. Redstone Arsenal has served for more than 50 years as the Army's center for missile and rocket programs. Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation offers quality support and leisure services that enhances the lives of Soldiers, Civilians, Families, military retirees and other eligible participants. We strive to deliver the highest quality programs and services - from Family, child and youth programs to recreation, sports, entertainment, travel and leisure activities. We encourage all newcomers to the area to attend one of our many newcomer briefs and tours; information on registering for a newcomers brief is available from your local personnel office. Automobile Registration

A recent change in the Redstone Arsenal order no longer requires a post vehicle decal. A vehicle operator wishing to enter Redstone Arsenal should be prepared to provide a military ID card or civilian government ID. All other will need to be sponsored and should visit the Visitor Center at gates 9 or 1.

Families new to Redstone and need assistance with issues on youth registration in local school systems should contact our School Liaison Services officer at 876-7801 or visit Building 1500 Weeden Mountain Road. They can assist with a wide range of resources to facilitate Army youth education transitions.
