Civilian Welfare Fund (CWF)
The Civilian Welfare Fund Council (CWFC) is a volunteer, governing Council concerned with determining some of the Morale, Welfare and Recreational (MWR) needs and desires of the civilian community at Redstone Arsenal; then developing activities and programs to satisfy those needs and desires; and then funding, directing and conducting the programs and activities. The Rustic Lodge is managed by this council.
CWF Committees:
- Special Events Committee - responsible for all Council sponsored special events. Past events have included a Titanic Fashion Show Luncheon, Annual Open House Event (Thursday before Thanksgiving), Elk River Canoe Trip, New Year's Eve Party, Crafter's Fair, Caterer's Fair and Extravaganza, and other fun stuff.
- Tickets Committee - responsible for negotiating with private businesses to obtain and distribute discounted or subsidized tickets to sporting, cultural and entertainment events, plus other activities like excursion trips. (Committee does not sell tickets, Council members do that.)
- Rustic Lodge Committee - responsible for envisioning, selecting, and monitoring renovation, construction and maintenance projects for the Rustic Lodge Facility. Also responsible for organizing Fall and Spring Work-Days, and the occasional emergency labor job on the lodge.
- Home Page/Publicity Committee - responsible for designing, up-dating, and maintaining the AMCOM Civilian Welfare Fund Homepage. Also responsible for designing and placing all media coverage of CWF activities.
- Sports Committee - responsible for organizing and soliciting civilian participation in off-duty sports leagues and programs throughout the year.
- Membership Committee - responsible for screening new members and presenting members to the committee.
- Steering Committee - made up of the chairpersons of the committees and CWF officers; oversight responsibility of all operations.
