Leisure and Recreation

This pillar focuses on meeting the soldier’s recreational activity needs. Ideas for recreational activities are solicited by the Single Soldiers representatives of Redstone Arsenal at the bi-weekly meetings. In conjunction with the Diane Campbell Recreation Center, BOSS, and Redstone’s Leisure Travel Office, activities are designed to provide activities for both on and off post recreation to get soldiers out of the barracks. Some of the recreational programs for Redstone’s BOSS program in the past have included a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Six Flags over Georgia, and a trip to Panama City, Fl.

Community Service

To help develop and establish relationships in the surrounding communities BOSS promotes Soldier participation in several different community service projects. As Soldiers are exposed to new and different kinds of people, and ideas, they are able to learn new skills as well as develop and grow as confident, strong minded individuals. Volunteering gives soldiers a great sense of development and allows them to gain a sense of involvement and achievement.

Well Being

The third pillar pf BOSS targets the enhancement of the single Soldier’s morale, living environment, as well as personal growth and development. These things are handled by the Soldier’s chain of command, pending on the issues as they present themselves.
